Hypocrisy in Action:
Where were Egypt, Russia, OIC, EU, Britain, Sarkozy, US & Austria when Hamas was pounding Israel with daily barrage of rockets?

I don't suppose that Israel is totally innocent and I don't know the details about this latest round of attacks other than what I read here. If a people are attacked they have the right to defend themselves. If a people start a fight they had better be prepared to suffer the consequence, or win.

War is at best an ugly event. It's always a good idea to avoid such activity whenever possible. It always saddens me especially to see what it does to innocent children who clearly do not deserve to suffer, so what do we do to stop the current war that is going on in Gaza? A quick solution would be for the whole world to gang up on Israel and pressure them to cease and desist with their rockets and bombs, but would that solve the problem? Hamas has been shooting hundreds of missiles at Israel for the past month, suffering no restraint whatsoever from the Palestinian people or its government--and worse without a single note of protest from the U.N. or its Security Council. If anyone feels that they can reasonably expect ANY country to respond in a different manner than Israel has in this situation, then they need to take a better look at history, politics and their own thought processes.

Now, we have one commentator who offers the argument that "The rocket and mortar firings into southern Israel were not the cause of the Israeli action. They were the pretext."--on other words, an unworthy excuse. This is based on the fact that there have so far been no fatalities resulting from the Hamas attacks. This is among the lamest of arguments I have ever read. Would this commentator say that if he were approached in the street by a gunman who raised his weapon, pointed it at his head and pulled the trigger, but the gun failed to fire or he missed that he should take no action against the gunman? Wehn someone makes it very clear that they are trying to inflict lethal harm to you--and firing missiles at you is a good indicatin of that, you must take action and that action should in most cases be of a violant nature. You have a duty to protect your people.

So how do we now stop this war? I don't think that the right place to put the pressure is Israel. We need to pressure the Palestinians to stop Hamas from firing its missiles and at that point we will have a very good argument with which to persuade Israel to cease its attacks . . .and then we won't have to keep seeing pictures of innocent Palestinian children being wounded and killed in the streets.

Unfortunately, it takes only one side to start a war, but we need the cooperation of all sides of the conflict to end one.
