Wednesday’s election debate between Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and one of his challengers, Mir Hossein Mousavi, is still sending ripples through and outside Iran, even as debates amongst the four candidates continue. Press TV reported Friday that Iranian polling centres are finding the debate “profoundly changed the level of support for their respective presidential campaigns”. Ahmadinejad is pressing the charges of “fraud” he leveled not only against Mousavi but against former Presidents such as Hashemi Rafsanjani, while his opponents are claiming that $1 billion is missing from Iran’s currency reserves.
