U2, many thanks for dedicating a song in your concert to Iran. It means a lot to us Iranians to know that those in the West with a moral compass are on our side: the green freedom movement.

We may be out of the news right now but there are demonstrations inside Iran and outside Iran in front of Iranian embassies every night. Iranian students across the country will be demonstrating this Thursday: expect fireworks!

In his poem, The Song of the Reed, Rumi reflects on the human spirit through the metaphor of the ancient reed flute or ney that is popular in Middle Eastern music.

In addition to the poem U2 also choose a song by an Iranian-born singer, Sussan Deyhim, as the intro for Sunday Bloody Sunday. The song's called Beshno Az Ney/Windfall.
