I almost snorted my oatmeal out through my nose when I heard the Republican running for President Obama's former Senate seat call the President vacuous & delusional-- the man clearly has a political death wish
Chris, once again, is the voice of reason. We're about to have an interesting couple of weeks.
As strange as it may sound to hear a republican not monger war, he was actually on the part of his analysis of Iran very good. He talked of lowering rhetoric, not having a double standard and reduce the temperature, all correct. In case of the nuclear issue, although he tried to be supportive of Israel, he again called for the removal of the double standard. This having been said, I fear he will remain just that; a republican seeking election victory. As a politician in USA that has called out this truth about Israel he will go nowhere. He will remain an unelected official. The fact remains that in USA to be elected you have to be pro Israel, much the same as in Iran, to be selected you have to be pro Khamanei and the Pasdaran....
Chris:
I would have wished they gave you more face time. Would have made it a more interesting interview. Looking forward to more interviews by you.
Thanks very much Amy and WIMV, really appreciate the support.
I'm really new to TV- this was my second one and I'm still pretty rubbish at just looking at the camera and saying my piece! It was a bit difficult also because the line was totally broken until 2mins before I went on and then broke again once I started- which mean't I had no idea what had been discussed before I came in or whether any of the other participants had commented on my points. (they edited out me saying- sorry I can't hear a thing can you repeat the question!). I was also there to talk about US-Iranian engagement- not really Iran's nuclear capabilities (which I'm not really an expert!).
But anyway, it was a good experience and I hope to get a few more opportunities in the future. If you want a complete masterclass on doing TV work, then there is no one better than Scott!
WIMV- I had not heard much from Martin before- but feared the worst knowing his background. I thought he was quite funny actually and talked sense at times. You are right though- I would imagine he is almost totally unelectable! He has run 14 failed election campaigns for various offices as a Democrat, Republican and as an Independent!
Also, you don't have to be pro-Israel (in the AIPAC sense) to be elected, indeed many senators criticise AIPAC as well as Israeli policies. Without defining what you mean by 'pro-Israel', however, it is difficult to state what position would be political suicide- certainly being anti-Israel (in the broad Middle Eastern sense) would be.
