UPDATE 1000 GMT: Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now jumped into the issue, declaring at a press conference with Spanish leader Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero: "We hope Turkey will bolster peace and not extremist elements, and also work towards securing the ties between us, because this is an important country and relations with it are important for peace. I hope we are not witnessing a fundamental change in the path Turkey had been on until a year or two ago."
Earlier this week Israel's Foreign Ministry expressed its disappointment over a drama series Ayrilik (Separation), broadcast by the Turkish State-spshowing TRT1, showing Israeli soldiers and administrators as brutal murderers broadcasted by the Turkish State-sponsored TRT1.
In the first episode of the series, an Israeli soldier shoots a smiling Palestinian girl in the chest, and an Israeli official calls his best soldier and instructs him to form a secret unit to prevent Muslims going to pilgrimage.
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman criticized his Turkish counterparts, as and the Israeli envoy in Ankara urgently outlined concern over the show. Lieberman said:

Such a drama series, which doesn't even have the slightest link to reality and which presents Israeli soldiers as murderers of innocent children, isn't worthy of being broadcast even by enemy states and certainly not in a state which has full diplomatic relations with Israel.

Avigdor Lieberman was very right to criticise the Turkish series. I spent three weeks early this year glued to my TV watching an infinitely more realistic one produced by Israel on location in the Gaza strip. You should have seen those charges of white phosphorous light up the sky while IDF tanks rolled into Gaza City, bombs rained down on schools, hospitals and UN installations, white flag-waving civilians served as target practice and entire families bit the dust. They even had dramatic live telephone calls from Palestinian doctors whose own families were being blown away. No way that Turkish series is worthy of being broadcast anywhere!
FREE WORLD
I am surprised by the reactions of the so called 'free world' about this topic. I have just read an article in a Dutch journal. The reactions on this article shocked me and especially on the ignorance of the people of the free world. Reactions as 'the current government is Islamic and against Israel.''Long live Turkish Army because they are against current government','the Turkish government kills Kurdish citizens' 'the Turkish government doesn't accept the Armenian Genocide'. What they all don't know is that since the AKP is in power Kurdish rights have been improved, there is Kurdish national broadcast, Kurdish is teached in universities, there is for the moment a 'Kurd Acilim' 'Kurdish Openig' where government wants more rights for Kurdish people but nationalist MHP and republican CHP are against it. You can check it. Of course this isn't enough but everyone who understands national politics knows that you can't say things that the people don't like. And in Turkey people have been brainwached for 80 years by the military regime that all our neigbours are enemys(Iran, Iraq,Syria, Armenia, Greece, the Kurds), that Kurdish people and the Armenian genocide are a plot of the West and so far.
You will ask me why?
When do military regimes have the most support of the people? WHEN IN STATE OF WAR AND IN STATE OF FEAR. So that's why they created artificially conflicts so they can have full support of the people.
So these poor Turkish people has been told that everybody is an enemy and there's a plot in everything.
So it's normal that the AKP can't accept the Armenian genocide. It will seem HIGH TREASEN to the Turkish people and they will not support AKP anymore. But AKP is handling things more subtle. -AKP just signed protocols that will normalize relations with Armenia. - AKP just renewed relations with Syria.
- AKP is talking to Kurish North Iraq authoritys. - AKP first prime-minister to tell on national TV that there is a Kurdish Problem. It seems rediculous but true. Before him they always talked about terrorists and mountain Turks.
You can truly see that there are positive signs in Turkish politics.
Now is it so bad that an independent government can criticize the murder of 1000 innocent people
When 2000 innocent people died in New York. The USA government started a war that costed directley and inderectley more than 1.000.000 deads. They used lies about Waepens of Mass Destruction.(remember Collin Powell in the UN security Counsil, remeber Tony Blair 'Saddam can attack Europe in 45 minutes')
Words are more dangerous then murdering acts for the 'FREE WORLD'
How free are they or are you?
When I say free you immediately think about space but what I mean is 'how free are you in your mind?'
