They are forcing people to the point of no return. There will be no reconciliation, which means more violence and then widespread actions against the regime. This will mean chaos and the regime will lose. It is amazing how people are coming together and how much of their fear is gone. The thugs grow more violent but are a small minority. No one will give them protection when the final da comes.
