I know it's well worn territory but 'Tragedy of American Diplomacy" is still the title that best fits... Anyway, back to the point of the original blog post. Any chance of adding the famous LBJ Johns Hopkins speech from '65? I wouldn't be surprised to find parallels with what Obama says this evening. Sigh. The comparison that was running in my mind was the similarity in the US' relation with Diem and Karzai. The CIA staged a coup against Diem, and the general consensus is that displeasure with Karzai is probably as great as it was with the South Vietnamese leader.
