The clip with the pics of Khamenei & Khomeini burning seems sound-edited. Might even be shot on a private balcony if you ask me... We must be more careful and accurate in order to do not undermine efforts of Iran's citizen journalists.
AsdollahMirza,
I take the point, as I went back and forth on authenticity of this video v. the powerful symbolism if this was genuine. Best to err on side of caution so pulling the clip.
S.
MKO has been doubling their efforts in their propaganda work in recent months. They are really good at it too. I've seen more and more videos made by them being spread around as genuine in the Iranian blogosphere (eg one video about the leaked walkie talkie of Tehran police) . So, be very careful what you post.
I would also add that this morning a number of the videos referred to on Twitter sites and blogs showed protesters wearing T-shirts. Today's max temps in Tehran were 9 C / 48 F.
Thank You Scott for removing the video with the burning pictures, because when I watched it too, it did not look and sound genuine and real to me.
As Asdollah Mirza pointed out, at different points in time, there were different slogans with completely different voices being heard.
Also there was not really a crowd there so it seems yes it was in a private backyard or balcony.
In addition to that, the pictures size was way too small to be used in protests, it's not the not norm at all to carry these small pictures in protests, usually available pictures/posters are much bigger.
Scott I don't think you saw this clip yet.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYpzMehSf2g
It is students and outside protesters breaking down the gates to Amir Kabr University in Tehran. It is a small victory, but this particular scene brought back memories of the Berlin wall.
Lets just say for the sake of argument, that this regime will not go away. What will happen at the next presidential elections?Who would run for president? How many people would turn up to give their vote? what about SL and IRGC?
The government has lost it and has gone crazy. I don't know how long this will last, but it is clear that again more and more people are joining the ranks of the opposition, but of course the immediate power is in the hands of the government police and thugs. How long though. This day may well be demonstrative of a major turning point in our history.
Hossein
The thing is that Iran doesn't really have a "Government" . It has a President, a Parliament, a "Supreme Leader", a Military/Security and a Judiciary -- but it doesn't have a "Government" in any sense of the word that I am accustomed to.
I believe that I am not the only one who thinks this. People desire Obama to involve himself with Internal Iranian politics - just who would he deal with??
Barry
hey.16th of azar in esfahan university we proteseted .we have cover on our faces but we scrimed and said our right by loud voice.
Thank Barry. Indeed you are correct. The group in power and pretending to run the country but are actually stealing the national wealth are thugs, rapists, thieves, torturers, and are in fact also stupid though cunning. We hope that the grassroots movement unleashed since the summer will throw them out. We will then elect a government. The level of violence has intensified, but the numbers of thugs have diminished. I don't think they have unlimited numbers of butchers and rapists. History has shown that sooner or later the thugs will turn on their. masters and we are, I think, seeing this process start. On Monday people joined students in every major city, perhaps not in large numbers, given the draconian measures taken by the thugs to curtail things, but people were clearly supporting the students in every way they could. The slogans were new and more clear than ever. I have heard that there are rifts showing in the body of the Pasdaran and the police forces. We already know that there is a major rift in the Ministry of Information. We have hope, and we are determined and we will not give up. The prisons must be liberated. I long for that day. I live for it. I day imagine it. Keep the information flowing. Thank y ou.
very impressice , bravehearts.
I believe the Islamic Republic would face another revolution soon
