If tens of thousands of people protest but the media is elsewhere, do they make a sound?
With attention focused on Syria --- and, it must be said, with no tear gas and violence to grab a headline --- press and broadcasters may have overlooked the rally called on Friday by Bahrain's main opposition societies, "A Nation That Refuses Humiliation".
Speeches declared that the regime's "national dialogue" will be of no use unless demands are met, such as an elected government that represents the will of the people and a system where all votes are equal. The societies said the recommendations of November's report by the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry should be implemented, with all dismissed employees reinstated. The protesters declared, "No one can be against justice and a civilized country. "
