Press TV's Vision of the "Terror Attack" on the Olympic Stadium --- People Nearby Seem Surprisingly Unconcerned

Britain has been swept by excitement over the 2012 Olympics, from the spectacle of the opening ceremony on 27 July to Usain Bolt's winning run in the men's 100 metres to the unprecedented gold-medal rush --- including three within 44 minutes in a dream night of athletics on Saturday --- for the United Kingdom's competitors.

For Iran's Press TV, however, there has been only doom and gloom: "Did Britain Botch Olympic Tourism?", "Olympics Bring No Big Windfall for UK", "Olympics Turn London into ‘Ghost Town’", "Olympics: A Celebration of Globalized Conformity to Vulture Capitalism".

After a few weeks of this, the articles blur together. Yet it is a tribute to Press TV's creativity that, just when you think there is no more to depress the imagination, they seize attention with a story beyond all others: "Imminent Terror Attack on London?" And not just any terror attack:

Would the 2012 London Olympic Games experience another 9/11? How could a mock terrorist attacks fill pockets of British Zionist lobby? What do you know about Australia’s richest man and influenced bussiness [sic] man in London?

What follows is an elaborate conspiracy theory which has little to do with the Olympics as it profiles the Australian Frank Lowy, "one of the Zionist capitalists, who you may have heard less about", and the Westfield Company with "a considerable talent for attracting terrorist attacks".

In September 2011, Frank Lowy opened Westfield Stratford City Mall, which is situated near the Olympic Park. With regard to Lowy’s talent for investment in places that are victims of terrorist attacks, the question raises that whether the Olympic Park would be a possible target for terrorist attacks. The insurance companies have been committed to compensate about $7 billion for lost profits, if terrorist attacks happen. Apparently, some people and companies would earn huge profits from tragedies and sufferings of the masses.

Convinced? Well, maybe it's to the credit of Press TV that, after this lengthy article, it seems to have belated doubts. Naming the author as "Montea Cristo: Freelance Journalist", it adds: "DISCLAIMER: The authors' views expressed in this article do not necessarily reflect the views of Press TV News Network."
