Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has put out a statement re-asserting that Neama was shot and killed during a "domestic terror attack":

A nightly patrol came under a vicious and violent attack....The large group of attackers was armed with lethal petrol bombs (Molotov cocktails) and steel rods. The policemen defended themselves according to legal procedure, but a 17 year old involved in the incident was injured. Ali Hussein Neama was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

The General Director said that the Public Prosecution was notified and an investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the attack.

Last night brought another death of a Bahraini teenager from birdshot fired by police. Ali Hussain Neama, 17, was shot in Sadad.

The Ministry of Interior put out the standard statement that police acted in self-defence against a "terrorist attack". Activists said an unarmed Neama was shot at close range by the security forces, who then surrounded the body and closed off roads into the village.

Photos of Neama's body, including a gunshot wound to the back, have been posted by an activist on Twitter.
