On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the United Nations General Assembly. In the speech, Netanyahu targeted the Iranian regime and its President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hamas, the Goldstone Report on the Gaza War, and those UN members who did not walk out during Ahmadinejad’s earlier address.
Netanyahu reiterated the the Israeli official discourse of the Bushian era between 2001 and 2009. His arguments were “applicable” within the context of the “war on terror” and within the “holy” war of modernization against terrorists, and he portrayed today’s Israelis suffering the same “punishment” Jewish people had experienced from Hitler’s Germany (read Adolf’s successor as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad).
For Netanyahu, “the greatest threat facing the world today is the marriage between religious fanaticism and the weapons of mass destruction.” And, since “Teheran is the motherland of terrotist activities and funding”, that must mean Iran is Danger Number One:
Our favourite delusional paranoid and/or talk-show shyster, Glenn Beck, reworks the poem about the Jews, leaping from the AIG financial services group to the auto industry, to prove that Obama/Hitler is “coming after you”:
Adolf Hitler, claim your partial exoneration. Josef Goebbels, hold fast to your propaganda. Hermann Goering, give back the cyanide. Y’all may have killed millions, started one of the two bloodiest conflicts of all time, and generally been nasty, but Congressman Pete Hoekstra has given you partial absolution.
(To dispel any thoughts of unimportant looniess, Hoekstra was chairman of the House Intelligence Committee in the run-up to the 2003 Iraq War, which he vigorously supported as a fight against non-Nazi terrorists. He is still the ranking Republican on the committee.)
Well, it appears that the misleading story of Barack Obama as a secret Muslim has been put to rest. Evidence continues to emerge that he is in fact the Politics 2.0 version of failed painter turned Führer Adolf Hitler.
The latest, sent to us by a concerned reader, comes out of the Rome News Tribune in the southern state of Georgia:
This week President Obama exercised for the first time a policy decision that shares a trait held in common with Adolf Hitler….
President Obama is moving policy on public health into the direction of doctors being forced to act against their conscience….
President Obama wants them performing abortions, whether they believe it to be an immoral thing or not. And while the comparisons to Hitler are made either on eugenist or racist grounds–but you cannot escape the impact. Read the rest of this entry »
12:40 p.m. Off for downtime: a “holding pattern” day as Israeli Cabinet seems undecided on its next day and Hamas — through a military strategy of remaining elusive and a political strategy of popping up to make statements — holds out. While Israel may make out that it is playing “Whack-a-Mole” with the enemy, it is more likely that the Israeli military has a growing concern. Neither moving forward nor backwards, Israeli forces may become a static target for Hamas hit-and-run targets.
I don’t think the situation is tenable from an Israeli point of view for many days but, with no political breakthrough, what is their next step?
