2015 GMT: Karroubi Watch. Iranian authorities have prevented the son of Mehdi Karroubi, Professor Mohammad Taghi Karroubi, from flying to Britain. Mohammad Karroubi’s passport was seized at the airport.
Mehdi Karroubi’s website, Saham News, reported, “[Mohammad Karroubi] was planning to fly to London for university related work, including the re-publication of his book ‘Just or Unjust War?’ and the completion of another book related to international law.”
I know that the Supreme Leader does not like that a group of people under the title of defending the Supreme Leader oppress the people and become hardliners….We can not run the country by socialist economy and the economy (economy activities) should be handed over to people.
2. Hojatoleslam Ruhollah Hosseinian, a fervent Ahmadinejad suppporter in Parliament, has gone for an all-out attack: he strikes at Hashemi Rafsanjani, Green movement leaders, the reformist Association of Combatant Clergy, and even Ali Larijani:
2030 GMT: US Walks Tightrope on Green Movement. Earlier today we posted Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s declaration about the “ruthless repression” of the Iran Government. Now State Department official John Limbert, who has direct responsibility for Iran, has put out a longer, more balanced statement.
On the one hand, Limbert continues the rhetoric criticising and cautioning the regime, “I think it’s very hard for the government to decide how to react to the legitimate demands of the people. The more violence it uses, the more it will hurt itself in the end….We will never remain silent in the face of state violence and the mistreatment of people.”
On the other, Limbert is also assuring that the Obama Administration will not break off discussions with the Ahmadinejad Government: “As you know, the U.S. president is determined to renew ties with Iran despite all the problems — which we don’t underestimate — based on a new beginning.”

1835 GMT: The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that academic Kian Tajbakhsh was arrested on Thursday night. Tajbakhsh is a specialist in local government reform, urban planning, public health, and social policy who has taught at both American and Iranian universities.
1830 GMT: A new website, “The Rooftop Project”, is trying to compile a present a full record of the nightly “Allahu Akhbar” (God is Great) protests from just before the election to the present. We’ve posted a note and sample footage in a separate entry.
1810 GMT: A lull in developments inside Iran, so EA’s Ali Yenidunya has looked at developments elsewhere, “It’s not the statement of the G8 Summit [on the Iranian nuclear programme] that poses the questions over future relations with Iran.
