It is hoped that this was the result of a practical joke and not simply run-of-the-mill incompetence by the Venezualan government and the Iranian embassy staff. Whatever the case it was deliciously evil, and needs the widest possible circulation, so please everyone assist in making this go viral.

Chavez is a Dictator Government is also full of people who hate him and his allies, of course it was a practical joke, a "mistake" of someone who clearly knew what he was doing. I know it First hand ;-). The Imperial Salute could also be heard in front of Ahmadinejad's hotel, played by protestors in loudspeakers.

Let's hope that many wrong national antemns will be played to greet world leaders in the future: that would help reduce the excessive solemnity of the official receptions in general...
