Iran Document: Mehdi Karroubi to Youth "This Situation Will Not Last....The Future Belongs to You"

On Friday, Mehdi Karroubi met with the members of the youth branch of his Etemade Melli party. This was his statement to them:

Don't be sad!  for sure this situation of governing the country will not last as is. These events will pass and  pride and victory will belong to the Iranian nation. As you witnessed, relying on military through organizing a bunch of thugs in Basij clothes and some hired individuals, and imposing restrictions for individuals such as myself, Mr. Mousavi, Ms. Rahnavard, members of our families and other political figures and activists, not only caused harm for the totalitarians, but also showed that despite their claims of having control and eliminating the criticizing movement, the movement is still alive and has deep roots in the society and that is why they desperately commit such hopeless acts.

[Editor's note: In the last six weeks, pro-regime crowds and security forces have surrounded the homes and offices of Karroubi and other opposition figures, restricting their movements, attacking the premises, and occasionally arresting those who tried to pay visits.]

The government media and website are constantly spreading lies and rumors and if we want to reply to all of the we have to write tens of responses every day. When it comes to spreading awareness we must most efficiently use these minimal resources that we have. Fighting the lying and spreading of superstitions, which unfortunately we witness as an increasingly dangerous  trend each day, is not easy and every one of us should try in this matter. In this fight, the effort of each and every one of us in promoting awareness and spreading information among the people is needed.

I am worried about the trend that would make such behaviors, false accusations, and lying the norm. For sure these kinds of violent actions, wasting the national revenue in order to prove the lies of some delusional individuals, promoting fallacies, attacking the privacy of Grand Ayatollahs and individuals, making arrests with phony excuses, and issuing and implementing heavy sentences for the accused without proper legal procedures, and other actions that we all witnessed, heard, and felt, will have harmful effect on society."

Unfortunately in such an environment, mental and social security will be eliminated and society will  face numerous crises, especially now that people are facing serious problems in their everyday lives and economy, thanks to the world management of these gentlemen.

For sure this situation will not last and will not stay as is; and you, the youth, plan for the future with hope and liveliness, because certainly the future belongs to you, the young.
