0810 GMT: The human rights centre Viasna reports that Christmas Day did not stop Belarussian security services from their raids of the offices and apartments of civil and political activists.
The police and KGB searched the apartments and offices of the wife of former presidential candidate Ales Mikhalevich, the mother Charter ’97 editor Natallia Radzina, and activists Viachaslau Siuchyk, Aleh Vouchak, and Aliaksei Kaputski. They also raided the premises of the father of detained journalist Iryna Khalip, the wife of presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov.
