US Elections 2012 Video: When Karl Rove Would Not Believe Fox News "Obama Wins Ohio"

Three minutes summarising Election Night for the Romney campaign and the Republican Party....

Karl Rove, campaign strategist for George W. Bush, refuses to believe Fox's call of Ohio for Barack Obama --- he remains unconvinced as Fox's anchorwoman takes a long journey down the corridors to verify the projection with the political number-crunchers. They explain the reasoning; Rove still does not believe.

US Elections Opinion: The GOP Needs to Listen to Mitt Romney

See Also US Elections 2012 Special: EA's Live Coverage and Analysis

Barack Obama won a decisive victory last night, taking both the popular and electoral vote. However, America does not feel any more united than it did before the polls opened. In fact, it feels more divided than ever. In the very early hours of the morning there was a man who could have broadened the divide or could have set the GOP, and the country, on the path of reconciliation and unity.

His name was Mitt Romney, and it appears he chose reconciliation over division.

While Conservative pundits were trying to rip the country apart and divide it further, and with some in the crowd calling for revolution, Mitt Romney gives a conciliatory and moving concession speech.

US Elections 2012: Why Obama Should Win Today --- and Romney's 3-Step Plan to Upset Him

The state of the election, according to Republican strategist Karl Rove

After more than 18 months of preparations and campaigning, either President Barack Obama or Republican challenger Mitt Romney will be elected by US voters today --- that is, barring a knife-edge outcome as in Bush-Gore 2000 or a legal challenge over claimed irregularities in the ballot.

Most broadcast commentators are drawing in viewers with "Too Close to Call". The reality, however, is that Obama should be declared the victor late tonight. Here's why....

US Elections 2012 Feature: The Hope for a Romney Upset --- Voter Turnout

The bottom line is that the bookies and most political pundits have President Obama as their favourite to win this election. Paddy Power, an Irish bookmaker, has already paid out on an Obama victory.

However, until that result is confirmed Republicans are still holding out hope that the polls are wrong and that their voters, more committed to their candidate than Obama's supporters, will turn out in enough numbers to make a fool of not just Paddy Power but many of the "liberal" media as well.

US Election Video: Vote Romney for the Zombie Apocalypse

The EA staff are still considering our endorsement for Tuesday's US Presidential Election, but going through the many videos urging us to stick with Obama or change with Romney, this may be the most persuasive....

Joss Whedon, the man who introduced us to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, now introduces us to the reason for a Romney Presidency: "The vision and determination to cut through the business-as-usual politics and finally put this country back on the path to the Zombie Apocalypse".

US Election Video Analysis: Mitt Must Win Ohio or The Race is Over

With just one week to go before the US Presidential Election, Mitt Romney's state-by-state polling is failing to show any significant bounce. Republicans are getting worried.

In our video analysis of the 2012 US Presidential Election last week, we said that Romney had to win Ohio plus two of four states --- Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and Iowa. With numbers looking worse for the Republican candidate, we now believe that if Romney doesn't win Ohio, he can't win the election.

US Elections Audio: Hurricane Sandy and Obama v. Romney --- Scott Lucas with the BBC

I spoke with BBC West Midlands this afternoon about the effect of Hurricane Sandy on the US Presidential election, assessing whether it will have a decisive effect in a close contest.

The take-away line? The event will not significantly alter the outcome, but it will have a marginal benefit to President Obama. That said, by the weekend, I expect the last-minute dynamics of the campaign to overtake the primary focus on Sandy.

The item begins at the 7:45 mark.

US Elections Analysis: One Week to Go --- Why "Moderate Mitt" and Crucial Ohio Point to a Cliff-Hanger

Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan in Celina, Ohio on Sunday

Why are we witnessing the emergence of a "moderate Mitt" so late in the campaign?

The answer lies in his demeanour on the stage in Florida in the third Presidential debate. Mitt Romney was a man who is truly convinced that he is winning this election, avoiding any potential controversy that would detract from the message that put him in the role of frontrunner.

Syria Opinion: "Leadership is Nowhere to Be Found" (Hanano)

Leadership on Syria is nowhere to be found, not in Syria nor in the rest of the world. Instead, the Syrian crisis has been reduced to these cliched statements, by politicians, journalists and pundits, that seem to create some kind of equality between the two sides.
