EA on the Road: Lost in England

We'll be travelling in northwest England today, so service --- including the LiveBlog from Iran --- will be limited. As usual, many thanks to our readers for keeping us up to speed with news, ideas, and comments.

We will be to full service on Sunday afternoon.

Iraq's Missing Billions: Scott Lucas on Al Jazeera's Inside Story

This week the US Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction reported that the Pentagon cannot account for almost 95% of $9.1 billion allocated by the United Nations, from revenues from the sale of Iraqi oil and gas, after the Iraq War in 2003. There are still no records for $2.6 billion.

I discussed the issue on Inside Story alongside Mundher Adhami, an analyst on Iraqi affairs, and Jeremy Carver, a board member of Tranparency International.

EA on the Road: A Trip to the Coast

We're having a bit of down-time this weekend, thanking the one who puts up with our devotion to EA (two years ago it was a wedding in Birmingham, today it's cockles by the seaside in Brighton), so service will be limited. Mike Dunn and Ali Yenidunya are minding the site, so do keep ideas and comments flowing.

We'll be back from Sunday evening with full service.

EA on the Road: New Media and the Clinton Institute Summer School

From Monday to Thursday, I will have the pleasure of working with the International Summer School of the Clinton Institute for American Studies at University College Dublin. The seminar with which I am involved is "New Media, American Studies, and the World", which seems an ideal opportunity to swap ideas with folks on issues that link EA, academia, and activism. Other seminars at the Institute, which is a partner of EA, will cover American literature, culture, race, and politics.

Mike Dunn and Ali Yenidunya will be minding the EA shop, so please do keep ideas and news flowing.

EA Climbs The Charts

Scott, Ali and I met yesterday, and we were extremely pleased to discover that EA is now in Technorati's Top 100 Politics blogs. EA is well-established as one of the most prominent websites in World Politics (currently #22 on Technorati's list) and is also in the Top 100 in US Politics, but this is first time we have appeared on all three charts at the same time.

Thanks to all of our contributors and readers --- we could not have done this without you.

We have more excitement around the corner, with the imminent launch of the "new EA". Meanwhile, for those of you just discovering us, why not read all about everyone's favourite foreign policy, politics and world news site right here?
