Comments Update: Goodbye Threaded Comments

Just a very quick Disqus update to say we've removed threaded comments (where replies nestle below the comment they're reply to). Based on feedback from EA staff and readers have, they won't be missed.

Mike -

I get a strange array of "responses" when trying to post through Discuss...new windows, the page loads within the comment section, and have to log in everytime I make a comment. Are there settings in IE I can edit to make this work smoother? Thoughts?

Thanks.

Do you allow third party cookies? Allowing at least disqus.com's cookie should solve the login issue. What do you mean by new windows exactly? And are you using IE8?

Some of the issues you and other have had could apparently be conflicts with other Wordpress plugins- I'm hoping that when we move to the new site (which isn't Wordpress and should be happening soon) some of them will go away.

Thanks Mike. Yes I am on IE8 and by new window I'm referring to a new IE window that will start.

Either way..its worth the effort. Will look forward to the new site.

Best regards,

Hmm. Par for the course on most forums and quite natural for me. But, I think we're aiming at something higher here, I guess?

Thanks Mike,
Now on to the next challenge. I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but for quite some time now if I click on the comments and reactions link at the bottom of a post I am NOT taken to the beginning of the comments (despite /#comments at the end of the url) but to the top of the page. The same thing happens when I click on the time (e.g. 1 hour ago) of a recent comment in the right sidebar or in the direct link to a comment in an e-mail from the thread, also despite, for example /#comment-56457665 at the end of the url. If I want to go directly to the comment I have to place my cursor at the end of the url in the url box and press enter. This happens on all browser versions I use IE (7 and 8) or the lastest version of FF.
