North Korean Leader Kim Jong UnI did two interviews today, with a third scheduled tomorrow morning, with BBC outlets on North Korea's bluster about launching a nuclear attack on the US.

To the question, "Could this be nuclear war?", I offered the following:

I back that up by putting the statement in political, military, and North Korean domestic context.

Libya Audio: Scott Lucas on BBC "Assessing Latest in Tripoli...And What's Next"

Photo: ReutersI had a chance to discuss latest developments in Libya, and to look ahead, with BBC West Midlands and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire this morning. As well as picking up the news at that point, we considered questions such as "Where's Muammar Qaddafi?", "What are the prospects for a stable 'new' Libya?", and "How should the US respond to the situation?"

The BBC West Midlands item starts at the 1:53:17 mark. My contribution begins at 1:54.25.

The BBC Coventry and Warwickshire interview begins just before the 1:02 mark. My chat with host Annie Othen starts two minutes later.

A discussion this morning with BBC Coventry and Warwickshire --- it begins with the release by the US of a silent video showing Osama bin Laden in his Pakistan compound but then considers why the Americans put out the footage, what it shows about bin Laden, and what significance, if any, this latest development has in the conflict within and beyond Pakistan.

The item begins about the 1:03.45 mark.

Assessing The Death of Bin Laden: Scott Lucas on the BBC and Al Jazeera English

I've been discussing both the immediate events and the significance beyond the killing of Osama bin Laden by US forces on the BBC and Al Jazeera English. I think there is a lot here for debate: by the time of the Al Jazeera English interview --- the most provocative exchange, posing big questions about what is next for the US in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and beyond --- the celebration in America was only dimly heard in the analyses.

BBC WM: Audio begins about the 2:04.45 mark

BBC Coventry and Warwickshire: Audio begins at the start of the programme

Al Jazeera English: I appeared on a special edition of Inside Story this afternoon with Al Jazeera's bureau chief in Islamabad, Ahmad Zeidan, and with Hamid Gul, the former head of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence. Video will be posted later.

BBC Midlands Today: Video will be posted later.
