The casualty figures from this morning's double car-bombing in Baghdad continue to rise. Al Jazeera has at least 74 killed and 265 wounded, but rolling accounts indicate that the death toll is at least 100 with more than 600 injured.
The bombing occurred less than a minute apart near the ministry of justice and the headquarters of the Baghdad provincial administration. They carried a powerful political message, as political leaders were due to meet on Sunday to discuss a dispute threatening next January's scheduled elections.

The US invasion of Iraq opened up deep wounds of division and hatred among the Iraqis who once lived together in relative Peace.
The US should have kept it's nose out of Iraq.
We blindly assumed that we could solve their problems by simply sending in soldiers to remove Sadaam
Now we are finding out that we have substitute an evil we could deal with for one we neither understand nor resolve.
It is really a terrible shame that Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr (Moqtada's father) was killed by Saddam in 1999. He was an inspiring individual who combined incredible personal courage with brilliant scholarship. If he had survived he would certainly have led an Islamic Revolution in Iraq.
